On Wednesday evening, Sprint and HTC held an event to announce the HTC EVO 4G LTE. Sure, the device's name is a mouthful?? but once you look past that, you'll find a gorgeous, powerful smartphone.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE is carefully crafted out of aluminum, anodized, and polished up until it looks so good that you wouldn't dare cover it with a case. It is light, slick, and has red accents which you can spot from half a room away.

The device ??which is a successor to the HTC EVO 4G, of course ??has a 4.7-inch HD super LCD2 screen which is made of tough Corning Gorilla Glass.?It offers a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Oh, and a kickstand.

The EVO 4G LTE also incorporates Beats Audio technology. This means that it should offer "thundering bass, soaring midrange and crisp highs," according to HTC.?Speaking of audio technology, the device is also uses something called HD Voice. This technology is supposed to provide improved voice-quality and a reduction of "troublesome background noises."

HTC and Sprint execs also made it a point to emphasize the camera technology built into the EVO 4G LTE. Apparently HTC's ImageSense technology combines "hardware and software advancements to the camera lens, sensor and software, including integration of a new custom HTC ImageChip, to take great photos even in adverse conditions." I'm not sure what sort of "adverse conditions" you'll be taking cellphone photos in, but all of that sounds pretty darn great.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE will cost $200 and can be pre-ordered beginning May 7. No word regarding when it'll actually start shipping though.
