NEWTON, N.J. (AP) ? Some Sussex County, N.J. Democratic leaders want to make it clear that Newark Mayor Cory Booker does not have their endorsement yet, despite his slogan on the primary ballot.
Booker's campaign has chosen "Sussex County Democrats 2013" as his slogan for the Aug. 13 U.S. Senate primary.
But county Democratic committee chairman Michael Busche told The Star-Ledger that he does not have the county's official endorsement.
Busche said the party leadership plans to pick its favorite after a straw poll later this month.
Booker joins three other Democrats and two Republicans in the race to fill the last 15 months of late Sen. Frank Lautenberg's term.
